Apple is a strong player in the tablet market, but analysts say that the sales of iPads will go down by ten percent this year. However, it seems that Apple is not much bothered about the forecasts of these analysts, as they are all prepared to release three new iPad models in the upcoming months.

The iPad models to be released include a second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, a 9.7-inch version of iPad Air, and a high-end 10-inch or 10.5-inch iPad Air model. This version will have a narrowed bezel design, says KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Quo. It is rumored that the new iPad models will be released in the second quarter of 2017.

Analysts at KGI Securities also expect that the iPad shipments in 2017 will go down by about ten percent to reach between thirty-five and thirty seven billion units. They added that this is still an improvement over the twenty percent drop that Apple iPads suffered in the year 2016.

“The new, 10- to 10.5-inch model could help Apple narrow the iPad’s sales declines this year if it gets demand from commercial/enterprises,” a note released by KGI says. It is to be noted that the use of iPads as cash registers in retail shops and restaurants has increased demand for the device in the past few quarters. This has also increased the sales of refurbished and wholesale iPad tablets.

The 9.7-inch model will be a low price legacy model that may “likely account for 50 to 60 percent of total shipments of new iPads,” says the report from the analyst agency. KGI analysts also note that Samsung will be “biggest winner” among “new-entrants” in the suppliers for the chips that are used in the low priced 9.7-inch iPad model.

Previously, Samsung said that they are expecting their quarterly profits to go up by fifty percent this year, despite of all the setbacks that they experienced in the previous year. Samsung expect that the sales of electronic chips for devices from other companies, including Apple, would help improve their profits.

Unlike iPhone, the iPad device does not get regular updates from Apple and this keeps Apple lovers guessing on the timing of the release of new models. This might also affect the iPad market in the upcoming days, as there are a lot of tablet options these days.
